What Is The KAIZEN Way™?
My life was profoundly altered the moment I was exposed to the KAIZEN philosophy. My initial introduction to KAIZEN occurred while reading a book on how this concept transformed the Japanese economy after World War II and later paved the way for a revitalization of many American companies.Since then I have adapted and successfully applied the KAIZEN concept to all areas of my career as well as my personal life.
KAIZEN is a Japanese term that means continuous improvement.
Taken from the words ‘Kai” (continuous) and “Zen” (improvement) some translate “Kai” to mean change and “Zen” to mean good or for the better.
KAIZEN played a role in me becoming the youngest person ever to win the coveted Salesperson of the Year award at Allergan. It paved the way for my involvement in launching the marketing campaign for one of the most successful pharmaceutical products in Allergan’s history.
KAIZEN served as the key that enabled me to rise up through the corporate ranks as fast as I did, eventually becoming a Regional Director at age 31. And it served as the foundation by which I managed to transform a last placed sales team at Allergan to the #1 position in sales in less than a year and a half.
KAIZEN has been successfully applied to the world of manufacturing, but rarely has it been used in sales, sales management and leadership. Until now.
I have spent the better part of my professional life redeveloping the KAIZEN philosophy to fit today’s multifaceted and ever changing modern world, and In doing so I have mapped out three essential tenets necessary for becoming a perennial sales performer.
My adaptation of the definition of KAIZEN is based on the following three core principles:
- Continuous Improvement
- The Relentless Pursuit of Excellence
- Eliminating Wasteful Thoughts and Behaviors
